The Australasian Fluid Mechanics Society (AFMS) and the local organising committee are pleased to announce the 18th Australasian Fluid Mechanics Conference (AFMC) to be held in Launceston in December 2012. The 18th AFMC will be the first of the series to be held biennially under the auspices of the AFMS. The 2012 conference also marks the 20th anniversary of Tasmania first hosting the AFMC in Hobart in 1992.

Launceston is a small city with significant historical and cultural heritage and an international reputation for fine food and wine. The city is situated at the head of the picturesque Tamar Valley with a range of local attractions including the famous geological feature ‘the cataract gorge’ as well as galleries, museums and restaurants.

The conference is jointly hosted by the Australian Maritime College and the University of Tasmania. Tours of the College’s unique research facilities will be organised as part of the conference.

We look forward to welcoming delegates, exhibitors and sponsors to Launceston.
