Alternative Propulsion Challenge 2009

As part of the 2009 Launceston Wooden Boat Rally you have a chance to win $1000

When: February 21, 2009

The Challenge

Enter a boat in a flotilla on the Tamar River. The vessel using the most effective unconventional power and propulsion method will win $1000!

The Rules

The vessel must be in keeping with the spirit of the Wooden Boat Rally and be powered by what the boating community considers to be a non-standard power and propulsion method. An example of the types of boat to be entered can include:

  • Hand and foot cranked
  • Chain Drive
  • Hot air engine
  • Accumulated energy - eg. compressed air
  • Rubber Band
  • Spinning fly wheel
  • Hover craft
  • Electric engine
  • Battery
  • Solar Panel
  • Air propeller
  • Paddle wheeler
  • Side wheeler
  • Jet unit
