Step 1 - Application

Download an Admission Form (PDF)

Read the section of Recognition. You may have units of competence from previous study that are able to be recognised toward your studies. Complete the Admission Form and copy any supporting documents (do not send original).

Please note: The Seafarer courses are open to applicants who can satisfy the entry requirements. All seafarer courses are linked to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) or State Marine Authority licenses which have statutory requirements concerning sea time, medical fitness and eyesight.

Step 2 - Send Admission Information

On completion of the Admission Form either scan and email or mail the Admission form and copies of the supporting documents (NOT originals) to AMC.

Step 3 - Offer of a Place

Upon reciept of Admission information the Admission Officer will assess your application and may contact you for further information.

If successful, the notification will take the form of a formal letter of offer, outlining the course in which the place is offered, the expected commencement date, the full course fee and the expiry date beyond which the offer of place may lapse.

A Provisional Offer of Admission may be made when an applicant has applied for a formal course of study but had to complete additional studies (e.g. Maths) or supply additional information.

Step 4 - Acceptance

When you receive the letter of offer you must return, by the specified date, the Acceptance of Offer to reserve a place in the course.

Step 5 - Enrolment

On the enrolment and induction day you will complete an Enrolment Form, negotiated Training and Assessment Plan and, if necessary, any traineeship paperwork. After enrolment the University of Tasmania will issue a course fees invoice. Your fees are dependent on the units of study you enrol in.
