A range of research projects within the AMC are concerned with the investigation of cavitating and viscous flows which make use of the cavitation tunnel and associated numerical capabilities. In general these studies are in support of naval and high speed craft development and are carried out with academic and industrial collaborators. Funding sources for these projects range from public and private sponsors including the Australian Research Council, AusIndustry, the Department of Defence as well as diverse industrial income.
Current projects include investigations into the performance of propeller and waterjet propuslors, ride control equipment for fast ships, control surfaces, skin friction due to bio-fouling and underwater vehicle hydrodynamics.
