IT Support

IT support is functionally split between UTAS Information Technology Resource (ITR) and AMC Information Technology Services (ITS).

UTAS/ITR can help with issues relating to:

  • Usernames and Passwords
  • eMail
  • MyLO
  • CAPS (Copy and Print Payments System) - including refunds

Assistance by telephone

The UTAS/ITR Service Desk provides the point of contact for assistance by telephone. Ph: 03 6226 1818 or 1300 304903 or 1818 internally from AMC. Requests that cannot be immediately resolved by telephone call will be logged for action by the appropriate department/group/person. This includes requests that will be actioned by AMC/ITS staff.

Usernames and Passwords

As a student your computer account is created as part of your enrollment. You should receive advice of your username and password during the enrollment process. If you do not receive these details you should contact UTAS Student and Academic Services or UTAS International Services as appropriate. Once you have received your account credentials issues should be directed to the UTAS/ITR Service Desk.

Printing in the AMC computer laboratories

The printers in the AMC computer laboratories are maintained by an external contract maintenance provider. Hardware faults may be reported direct to the contractor using the support contact telephone number and unit identification details on the printer or by logging an AMC/ITS support request. Printer consumables (paper, toner etc.) are available from the AMC/ITS office or can be requested by logging and AMC/ITS support request.

The printers are connected to the UTAS Copy and Print Payments System (CAPS). Details of this service, including information about refunds can be found on the UTAS CAPS website or at the UTAS Library website.

The charges specified on the above sites apply to printers at other UTAS locations (eg. Library).

The charges for printing (per page where duplex is 2 pages per sheet) in the AMC computer laboratories are:

Using your own computer

The UTAS UConnect service provides wireless network connection services for students. It will help you:

  • Find software and utilities to access course resources
  • Access self help guides to get you started with essential Library, IT and campus resources
  • Access MyLO when off campus

Residences Wireless Network

The wireless network service at AMC residences are provided by an external Internet Service Provider (ISP). If you have any issues with the service please contact UTAS Accommodation Services directly.
