AMC units may incorporate one or a number of flexible learning (or study) options. They are units that either:
- augment face-to-face delivery with other teaching strategies less time and/or place dependent
OR
- replace some (or all) face-to-face classes normally held in standard AMC teaching hours with other teaching/learning arrangements.
Units can involve learning flexibly in a number of ways:
- Providing learning resources and/or activities online through UTAS’s MyLO service. [Units here can vary from the simple provision of enrichment and/or review resources for the face-to-face program, to unis fully reliant on MyLO to ‘deliver ‘the course.] For more information about MyLO see Learning Online.
- Providing a range of ‘off-line’ resources such as CD-ROM, print-based study guide. Once again, these resources may simply be supplementing the face-to-face program, or replacing in part or whole the face-to-face program (as in a distance education course).
- Providing communication links between teaching staff and distant students, as in videoconferencing (or web conferencing). Videoconference facilities are located at Newnham, Beauty Point and Rosebud to facilitate such cross-campus teaching.
- Flexible scheduling or provision for workplace learning.
For further information about flexible teaching and learning at UTAS, and units with flexible study options, see the Teaching and Learning Environment at UTAS.
