Listening to our Students

Student Evaluation of Teaching and Learning

At AMC we take the views of our students very seriously. As with other UTAS teaching and learning enterprises, we survey students throughout the year by using two separate instruments:

  • Student Evaluation of Teaching and Learning (SETL): Unit Evaluation; and
  • Student Evaluation of Teaching and Learning (SETL): Teaching Evaluation.

All teaching staff members are required to consider such data when compiling end of year course and unit reports and they are also discussed during annual staff appraisals. UTAS-wide data can be found through the Statistics link on the UTAS SETL for staff web site.

For specific details about AMC’s policy on student evaluation of teaching and learning (including when SETLs should be carried out), see AMC T&L11 Student Evaluation of Teaching and Learning in the AMC Document Library (under ‘AMC Policies and Procedures – Teaching and Learning’).

Student liaison mechanisms

In addition, we establish formal student liaison mechanisms (a joint student/staff committee, for example) for all courses with duration of greater than six months. The policy and procedure can be found in the AMC document Library
