I was born in Haiphong City, Vietnam. I was trained in the nautical science course, graduated in November 1991 and after that started working as a lecturer in ship marnoeuvring and a seafarer at Vietnam Maritime University. In 1995, I received a Japanese government scholarship (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Monbukagaksuho in Japanese, Scholarship) and studied Japanese at Tokyo Institute of Technology and as a research student at the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. I finished my Master’s course in marine systems engineering in March 1998, and finished my PhD course in marine control engineering at the same university in March 2001. After completion of my PhD course I worked as an R&D engineer for a Japanese nuclear gauge manufacturer in Japan until August 2002.
I have been working at the AMC/UTAS as a lecturer in marine control engineering since September 2002. My main interests of research are automatic control engineering, guidance, navigation and control of marine vehicles.
My hobbies are reading novels, writing romantic stories, learning languages, excursion and travelling around the world.
