The Student Experience
Want to know what it’s really like studying engineering at AMC?
Our engineering courses have a number of exciting practical components throughout the four years of study. From designing and building pasta bridges that can withstand weights in excess of 170kg, to constructing a rat trap powered boat for racing, to sailing the Tasmanian coast aboard AMC’s training vessel Bluefin, our engineering courses aren’t just taught in a classroom.
The Bluefin Experience
All engineering students take a voyage on the AMC training vessel Bluefin in the third and/or fourth year of their degree. See some of the photos, videos and stories from past voyages.
The Design Project Experience
There are a number of design projects that engineering students undertake throughout their course, including the Ocean Vehicle Design project completed by fourth year Naval Architect students.
The Practical Project Experience
See the practical projects that engineering students complete during their degree, including the popular Pasta Bridge competition and Rat Trap Boat Races, as well as the submarine projects.
The Research Project Experience
All students carry out a final year research project over two semesters in their fourth year as the culmination of their engineering education. Have a look at the research projects of some of our past students.
