Study Maritime Engineering at AMC

Are you good at maths and physics? Do you like solving problems?

Engineers make an enormous difference to our lives. They have the skills to recognise where there is a problem and why, then come up with a range of possible solutions, enhancing many aspects of our lives.

Engineering students at AMC have access to an extensive range of experimental facilities including a cavitation tunnel, towing tank and model test basin. AMC offers four year bachelor of engineering degrees in the following areas:

Marine & Offshore Systems Engineering

This degree, unique to AMC, focuses upon innovative design, deployment and commissioning of systems associated with the marine and the offshore oil and gas industries. It is suited to students interested in mechanical and mechanical-electrical equipment, such as huge fuel injected turbocharged engines, large gas turbine generators, or massive oil and gas rig topsides.

Ocean Engineering

Ocean Engineers are involved in the design of some of the largest, most complex and expensive structures produced by mankind including offshore structures such as oil and gas platforms, subsea pipelines, submersible vehicles and ports and harbours.

Naval Architecture

Naval Architects are professional engineers that design and oversee the construction and repair of marine craft and various offshore structures. This includes naval craft, passenger and cargo ships, submarines, high-speed ferries and catamarans, tugs and yachts and offshore drilling platforms.

Accreditation

AMC engineering degrees are fully accredited, just like other Australian universities. This accreditation is recognised by the Washington Accord and by:

  • Engineers Australia
  • US, Canada, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Russia. Over 30 countries in all.
  • Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (UK)

Our Naval Architecture degree is also accredited by:

  • Royal Institute of Naval Architecture (UK)
