AMC hosted 20 high school students from around the State as part of Careers on the Move.
Spearheaded by the Department of Education, the Tasmanian Transport Association and AMC, Careers on the Move was an event designed to attract Tasmanian youth into the rapidly growing transport and logistics industries.
“Logistics is the second largest industry in Australia – and it is really exciting that opportunities were provided to high school students to participate in Careers on the Move and learn about career and study opportunities in logistics,” said Hilary Pateman, Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator at AMC’s Department of Maritime and Logistics Management.
The logistics industry is expanding, but its workforce is ageing – a problem addressed by the Careers on the Move initiative.
Careers on the Move gave participating students a taste of the daily life of a logistician and highlighted educational opportunities, such the industry-specific degree programs in Maritime and Logistics Management, and International Logistics (Freight Forwarding) on offer at AMC.
