Feedback - Assignment 1 - Indepth discussion

  The third posting about Assignment 1 follows:  

**PROVIDING INDEPTH DISCUSSION  

There is no need to provide definitions of commonly mentioned terms from the reading resources, this was raised in a posting providing tips for the assignment. No marks are awarded for definitions as they require no thinking to insert; this means that definitions are taking up valuable word space. Make better use of your word count by writing indepth discussion.  

The use of writing in complete paragraphs will help because this enables explanation, discussion of implications and discussion. The use of point form and lists offer little value in an assignment. If you have not received a two page paper from Distance Ed about paragraphs, let me know, feedback has indicated it provides assistance.  

In relation to the discussion, directive keywords such as "discuss" were being ignored. Discuss does not mean describe or define. Instead it was expected that a thorough assessment of the issues would be provided. So, when working through Assignment 2 and the Exam, please read the questions very carefully and note the directive words.  

Those using "etc" throughout the assignment would have seen this crossed out, the reason is how do I know that you understand the "etc" part of the sentence. In addition, abbreviations should not be used because assignments are meant to be formal pieces of writing.
