Dr Melissa Nursey-Bray, of AMC’s National Centre for Marine Conservation and Resource Sustainability is a member of two climate change adaption research networks named in funding rounds by Minister for Climate Change and Water, Penny Wong. Dr Nursey-Bray is a member of the University of Tasmania’s Marine Biodiversity and Resources network that will receive $1.6 million in funding over four years. She’s also part of the University of Melbourne’s Social Economic and Institutional Dimensions network that will see $376,000 a year for the next four years. In making the announcement Senator Wong said the networks would bring together the best brains in Australia to advance our understanding of how specific sectors and regions will be affected by climate change and what action is needed to reduce the risks. The networks will be part of the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility, hosted by Griffith University, which is leading Australia’s climate change adaptation research effort.
