To assist students develop a
professional standard in their written work, the Department of Maritime and
Logistics Management has developed a range of materials. These include the Assessments: A Checklist for Success and
a sample assignment, Steve's Automotive.
In addition, please note the general presentation requirements given below.
General presentation
- 12 point font used (avoid inferior
dot-matrix printing; Times New Roman is suggested)
- at least 1.5 line spacing, but double
line spacing is preferred
- generous margins (e.g. 2.5cm top, 2.5
cm bottom, 2.5 cm left, 2.5 cm right)
- printed on one side of quality A4 white
paper
- pages numbered, refer to Steve's Automotive as an example
- pages stapled in top left-hand corner
(do not use folders or plastic pockets. These will not add to marks.)
Assignment
presentation
You must include:
- completed Assessment Attachment Form (or Assignment cover sheet)
- title page, including word count
- abstract or executive summary
- table of contents
- introduction
- conclusion
- list of references in single line
spacing
- correct and consistent referencing
style, both in-text and end-text
Please also ensure that you have
checked the following:

spelling
- appropriate use of paragraph and
sentence structure.
- correct use of English expression and
grammar, including punctuation.
Remember to keep a copy of your
completed assignment.
