Deck Officer: Mate/Master<500 GT + Master Class 3

AMC is your one-stop-shop for all the training required to obtain the Mate/Master <500gt Certificate of Competency and a State Master Class 3 certificate. The program is Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST) approved and satisfies the international STCW95 convention.

J1V Diploma of Applied Science (Mate/Master <500Gt)

  • Entry requirements
  • Completion of AMC Certificate in Pre-sea Training (Deck) or equivalent.
  •  AMSA approved Medical requirements and eyesight test
  • Students who intend to undertake an Australian Maritime Safety (AMSA) oral examination for a seagoing Certificate of Competency on completion of this course will be required to provide evidence of seatime to AMSA prior to undertaking the oral examination as per Marine Orders Part 3.  A final seatime assessement is conducted at AMC during your course.  For further information visit www.amsa.gov.au

Phase 3: Deck Watchkeeper education and training including STCW95 short courses (33 weeks at AMC)

Mate/Master <500GT required units - additional 7 weeks

  • Command Navigation (Restricted Tonnage)

  • Operational Management (Restricted Tonnage)
  • Medical Care Onboard Ship
