Pre-Sea Engine to Engineer Class 1 (Chief Engineer)

All programs are internationally approved by Australian Maritime Safety Authority, internationally accredited by IMarEST and meet the requirements of the STCW95 convention.

Entry requirements
- Satisfactory completion of Year 10 English, Year 12 Maths and Science, or equivalent
- Students with English as second language need on IELTS score of at least 5.5 or 5 overall
- AMSA approved Medical requirements and eyesight test
- Applicants will need to obtain a traineeship/cadetship with a Shipping Company in order to undertake the seagoing components of the program
Course structure
The programs consists of four parts over a minimum of three years:
Phase 1: Pre-sea training is delivered Launceston Campus (full-time 31 weeks)
Phase 2: Task and Guided Study (TAGS)
Phase 3: Duration 36 weeks Marine Engineer Watchkeeper academic studies
Phase 4: Task and Guided Study (TAGS)
Phase 5: Duration 44 weeks 2nd / Chief Engineer studies
