AMC is the place for all the training required to obtain the Chief Engineer (Class 1) and Second Engineer (Class 2) Certificate of Competency. The program, Advanced Diploma of Marine Engineering (Chief Engineer) and Advanced Diploma of Marine Engineering (Second Engineer), is Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) approved, satisfies the international STCW95 convention and has international IMarEST accreditation.

J2X Advanced Diploma of Marine Engineering (Chief Engineer)

Entry requirements

  • Completion of AMC Engineer Watchkeeper or equivalent
  • Students with English as second language need an IELTS score of at least 5.5 or 5 overall.
  • AMSA approved Medical requirements and eyesight test
  • Students who intend to undertake an Australian Maritime Safety (AMSA) oral examination for a seagoing Certificate of Competency on completion of this course will be required to provide evidence of seatime to AMSA prior to undertaking the oral examination as per Marine Orders Part 3.  A final seatime assessement is conducted at AMC during your course.  For further information visit www.amsa.gov.au

Course structure

              Phase 4: Second and Chief Engineer education and training.

              Part B is offered seperately if you already hold a Class 2 Certificate of Competency.

              Steam module offered optional upon request.
