Fees Associated with Studying at AMC

What Fees are associated with my child studying at AMC?

Australian Government's Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS)

The Australian Government's Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) has brought tertiary education within the reach of all Australians and provides benefits to New Zealand citizens and holders of permanent visas. Under HECS, the Australian Government contributes to the course fees of all students who are offered a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP). This leaves a student contribution amount that must be paid by the student. Unlike other higher education institutions, all domestic students at AMC are offered a CSP.

Australian citizen and holders of a permanent humanitarian visa have the choice to pay their student contribution amount upfront and receive a 20% discount, or defer their payments by taking out a HECS-HELP loan. HECS-HELP refers to the Government's Higher Education Loan Programme. If a student defers payment and takes out a HECS-HELP loan, repayments are incorporated into their tax payments when their income exceeds a minimum threshold. The minimum threshold is set by the Australian Government and is indexed annually.

New Zealand citizens and holders of permanent visas to Australia are required to pay their subsidised rate to their higher education provider.

International Fees

Course fees for international students are finalised in October for the following year's courses. After course fees are finalised these can be accessed on our website, or can be provided upon request by the International Admissions Officer.

For first year international students, 50% of course fees must be paid on acceptance of their offer. The remaining course fees must be paid upon arrival at AMC.

Additional study related costs

Most of the units offered in AMC's courses, provide substantial course materials at no charge. However, in addition to the course materials provided, there is a recommended textbook for most units. A copy of all recommended texts is held in the AMC library, alternatively they can be purchased from the bookshop on campus.

If you or your child chooses to purchase the recommended textbook, please be aware that the price of textbooks can be in excess of AUD$100.

Opportunities for Financial Assistance

AMC offers a range of scholarships to assist domestic students in meeting their financial commitments while at AMC. Some scholarships are awarded primarily on academic merit, while others are offered to assist full-time students who are Indigenous, from rural or regional areas, or on a low income.
