Master of Philosophy (Masters by Research - Maritime Engineering)
The Master of Philosophy involves the acquisition, through research, of an in-depth understanding of a specific area of knowledge or professional practice.
Entry requirements
Entry to the Masters degree is based on evidence of a capacity to undertake research in the proposed field. The Dean of Graduate Research may admit as a Candidate for the Degree of MPhil, a person who has satisfied at least one of the following requirements:
- Degree of Bachelor with first or second class honours or a postgraduate diploma from a recognised tertiary institution in a field relevant to the Master’s Degree in which the Candidate proposes to enrol;
- Degree of Bachelor at a recognised tertiary institution and the satisfactory completion of an approved qualifying program;
- Degree of Bachelor from a recognised tertiary institution, a minimum of two years postgraduate work and publications and reports which the Research Committee considers to be suitable evidence of research potential; or
- Qualifications which, in the opinion of the Committee, are equivalent to those prescribed in paragraph (1), (2) or (3) above.
- Students from non-English speaking backgrounds require an IELTS score of 6.5
