Prizes and Awards

AMC Rob Lewis Prize for Excellence in Postgraduate Research
AMC awards the Rob Lewis Prize for Excellence in Postgraduate Research in honor of Dr Rob Lewis, Chair of AMC Council 1997-2003. The prize consists of an inscribed medal and $1000. Nominations close on the first Monday in February.

AMHRC Research Award
The Australian Maritime Hydrodynamics Research Centre (AMHRC), located at AMC, makes an occasional Research Award to an individual or team from participating organisations (AMC, the University of Tasmania, and the Defence, Science and Technology Organisation) in recognition of significant contributions to the AMHRC. The prize ($3,000) is for professional usage.

Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (AFFA)
The Australian Government's Science and Innovation Awards for Young People aim to encourage people between the ages of 18 and 35 years to use science, technology and innovation to advance the future of Australia's agriculture, fisheries, forestry, food and natural resource management industries.

Royal Institute of Naval Architects (Australian Division) Prizes
RINA (Australian Division) awards several prizes to member Naval Architects, including the Walter Atkinson Award ($250, for presentation of a paper at a RINA meeting or maritime conference, or publication within a journal within Australia). Awards are also provided by some overseas educational and professional institutions (eg. the Samuel Baxter Prize; the Wakeham Prize; the Calder Prize; and the William White Postgraduate Scholarship).

Engineers Australia - Australian Engineering Excellence Awards
Australian Engineering Excellence Awards are to recognise excellence achieved by engineering enterprises. The awards represent the culmination of regional and technical society Excellence Awards, and also showcase the Australian engineering industry.

Australian Marine Science Association (AMSA) Awards and Prizes
The Australian Marine Science Association provides a number of awards and prizes to support students working in the field of marine sciences, including the Annual Conference Prize and Travel Subsidy, and AMSA Annual International Conference Prize.

Ecological Society of Australia Prizes
The Ecological Society awards a range of prizes for members, including research awards, and annual conference (paper or poster) presentation awards.
