PhD Thesis Title:

Impacts of climate change on biogenic habitat-forming seaweeds in southeast Australia: heritability of traits in temperate kelp.

Project summary/description: This study will explore the heritability of traits in temperate habitat forming kelp. Field and lab studies will examine kelp traits that are likely to be important in the potential for kelp species to adapt to predicted environmental shifts due to climate change and a strengthening East Australian current in southeastern Australia. The study will use the ubiquitous species Ecklonia radiata.
