While a vessel is at sea, deck officers are responsible for the safe navigational operation of a vessel. Enjoying high levels of responsibility deck officers are required to perform a range of duties. When a ship is in port, deck officers are responsible for coordinating cargo operations ensuring that all operations are carried out safely and effectively at all times.

Medical Certificates
For seafarers living, working or presently in Australia, the certificate holder
must obtain a certificate of medical fitness issued in accordance with Marine
Orders Part 9. A list of
appointed medical inspectors of seaman has been provided on the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) website.
For seafarers living and working outside Australia please follow requirements listed on Australian Maritime Safety Authority website.
Students who will be attending training vessel voyages, including the FSV Bluefin are required to have a completed medical certificate.
