Dr James Haddy joined AMC in March 2005 and lectures in Aquatic Biology and Aquaculture in the undergraduate degree programs. Previously he worked at the Cronulla Fisheries Centre in NSW conducting biological and fishery related research on black bream and luderick. He also provided scientific advice, training and liaisons with fisher managers, NSW fisheries staff and other stakeholders.

From 2001 - 2003 Dr Haddy was based at the QLD Department of Primary Industries? Southern Fisheries Centre at Deception Bay where worked on quantifying key population parameter estimates for byproduct species in the Queensland East Coast Trawl fishery. These species included: Champagne Lobster (Linuparus trigonus), Balmain bugs (Ibacus spp), Three spot crabs (Portunus sanguinolentus), Mantis shrimps (Stomatopoda), Cuttlefish (Sepia spp), Octopus, (Octopus spp), threadfin beams (Nemipterus spp) and pipehorses (Solegnathus spp). He published the results in several peer-reviewed journals.
